Is Breezy (and/or X) really messed up right now?

It's working fairly well for me, but I tried using an earlier kernel I
had compiled (2.6.8 patched with the drivers for my pchdtv card) and
when I run a command from a VC or terminal, it freezes afterward instead
of giving me a new bash prompt.  GDM wouldn't start with that kernel
either, but startx  worked.  All seems well with 2.6.11.1 and 2.6.11.2
kernels, but I probably just haven't tried something broken yet.
