Warty won't boot - fstab error

I've booted to a Warty Live CD but I'm not sure what command I need to
issue to access /etc/fstab.
I know I need to chroot but I'm unsure of the syntax.
man chroot and info chroot don't make much sense to me at my level of
understanding.
I have /, /swap and /home for partitions on a SATA disk.

Can someone point me to a site that explains what I need to understand?
