libxine1 fails to update

That red circle warns of an available update and I'm up to date except
for libxine1, which always returns the error:

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/libxine1_1.0-1ubuntu3.1_i386.deb:  unable to
stat `./usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.0.0/xineplug_decode_mad.so' (which I was
about to install): Permission denied

I can't find any option to ignore this update and it's annoying to have
to check every time I log in to see if there is anything new besides
this one package. Any ideas on how to fix it?
