Ubuntu install

Could you elaborate a bit ? What happens exactly ?
When you insert the DVD, doens't Totem start automaticaly ?
If you start Totem manually, then direct it to the DVD, what happens ?
Is the DVD drive properly working, that is... can you read data CD's ?
If you insert one, does Nautilus mount it automatically and put an icon
on the desktop ?
