Can't log into GDM!

I'm not sure if I installed anything during my last bootup, but now
whenever I log into GDM, I get this:

"Your session only lasted less than 10 seconds..." etc.

The ~/.xsession-errors file reads:

"** (gnome-session:7792): WARNING** unable to read ICE authority file:
/home/(my username)/.ICEauthority"

(Where (my username) is in fact my username.)

It's Hoary, btw.

Anyone know how I can fix this?
