What's different between Knoppix and Ubuntu

I have used both.  So far as LIVE CD goes, the major difference is Knoppix 
uses KDE whereas Ubuntu uses Gnome.  I think Knoppix CD uses 
"compression/decompresion on the fly" so it has more options but works more 
slowly than Ubuntu.  There isn't a huge difference between them in practice.

The HUGE difference comes when you want to install on your hard drive.  Ubuntu 
is upgradeable and you can obtain any app you want and use it.  Knoppix 
really shouldn't be played-about with too much and there is no upgrade path I 
know of other than a reinstall.  So if you want to install on your hard drive 
Ubuntu is far superior.
