Apt-get upgrade killed ssh

I am working on setting up a server. This is my first
attempt so it has been a little hairy. Yestrday I did
apt-get update and apt-get upgrade. I noticed that
their was an update for apache2 so I went ahead and
installed the update. After the update was complete
ssh stopped responding. When I attempt to ssh into the
system, ssh will time out.

Does anyome know why this has happened and how to fix
it.
