There are excellent pages on the wiki fro getting Java on a Ubuntu
machine. It seems the repos with pre-built packages are unavailable, but
doing it yourself is a no-brainer with the Debian page. (I did it myself
just today, took me a few minutes only.)

Search for "Java Ubuntu" in Google, and you'll find it.

Software is not manufactured, it is something you write and publish.
Keep Europe free from software patents, we do not want censorship
by patent law on written works.

Microsoft is after all our entertainment technologies. It is an assault on
so many fronts it is easy to lose track.
