Not rude... Good question...

I am accustom to using root..  I have been a user since 9x?  So, I hate 
to see things taken away from me.  I feel I can do it my way <open 
source>.  That is why I love LINUX..


Is there something similar that stops me for configuring  eth0 using 
/sbin/ifconfig??
