I don't know. The best thing in this situation (in my not experienced
opinion) is to install the package "smartmontools" and make sure that
S.M.A.R.T. is enabled from the BIOS. See the log file '/var/log/syslog'
and search for the line(s) that have 'smartd' in them. They'll tell you
about the status of your HDD. You can post again with the
results/questions here later.
