Hoary and sound

Have a look at the modules loaded. Maybe there's another/a new
driver loaded, that conflicts in some way with your "old" driver for
your sound card. I had such problems on one machine with a NIC after
upgrading from Warty to Hoary (<d3gsfe$ten$1 at sea.gmane.org>).
