17" CRT monitors : Samsung SyncMaster

I currently have a 7 year old 17" CRT, a Nec Multisync M700, which I
love the design of, but I am getting more and more annoyed with the
picture quality. It's a bit blurry I find, not very sharp, the geometry
is impossible to set 100% right despite the many controls, and the tube
is not 100% flat.
I think it will take at least 5 years for flat screens to meet CRT
quality standards (LCD technology just doesn't do it for me, waiting for
the coming new technologies to breath fresh air), so I am thinking of
upgrading for a modern CRT, as it seems that many now offer a really
flat tube, with near perfect (square) image, and sharp pictures, for 5
times less than what I paid for my old CRT back then. Tempting to say
the least.
Anyway, I did some homework, and have narrowed it down to Samsung CRT's,
in the SyncMaster series. In particular, the SyncMaster 757MB.
Would love to hear opinions from people with this monitor, or with
other modern flat tube Samsung Syncmaster models.
Mainly, how does it compare with old CRT's ?
Is the tube really flat ? Can the picture be made easily really square ?
Is the image sharp/neat/clear ? Is it as sharp on the edges (gnome
panels ie... ) as it is in the center of the tube ?
And any other comment you might have, of course...
Regards,
