GnomeMeeting, apt-get, AMD and video capture

Greetings,
I have two problems on my ubuntu box:
1. GnomeMeeting:
I have used GnomeMeeting yesterday evening and did registered to
ils.seconix.com. I called some guys who were willing to do some tests. I
was not able to open a discussion with them, for the reason that the
application was ringing continuously. I was not able to hang up.
Later I had a friend using win and called me from netmeeting. The call
was OK, no problems at all, despite the fact that on irc.freenode.net
#ubuntu kain (nick) told me he had problems when making calls with win
users. I am updating my dist now an I'll check again this evening the
application.
In any case I am impressed by GnomeMeeting and I am happy that sound
works good in full duplex mode. Thank you for this application
2. coming dist-upgrade, on my box I have the following problem:
update OK
dist-upgrade hangs when upgrading pcmcia. I have this problem even if
I try to remove this package. True is that I have previously (with no
reboot) replaced a flash drive with a IEEE1394 card in the pcmcia
socket. I will reboot and try again the upgrade.
please see below the traces from synaptic:
Extracting templates from packages: 100%
Preconfiguring packages ...
Setting up libcomerr2 (1.35-8ubuntu2) ...
(Reading database ... 64200 files and directories currently installed.)
Removing pcmcia-cs ...
I tried the same thing from apt-get and the result is:
Extracting templates from packages: 100%
Preconfiguring packages ...
Setting up dselect (1.10.27ubuntu1) ...
(Reading database ... 64201 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace pcmcia-cs 3.2.5-8ubuntu5
(using .../pcmcia-cs_3.2.5-8ubuntu6_i386.deb) ...
dpkg: error
processing /var/cache/apt/archives/pcmcia-cs_3.2.5-8ubuntu6_i386.deb
(--unpack):
subprocess pre-installation script killed by signal (Interrupt)
Preparing to replace libcomerr2 1.35-8ubuntu1
(using .../libcomerr2_1.35-8ubuntu2_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement libcomerr2 ...
Errors were encountered while processing:
/var/cache/apt/archives/pcmcia-cs_3.2.5-8ubuntu6_i386.deb
Failed to apply all changes! Scroll in the terminal buffer to see what
went wrong.
Where can I find the logs for dist-upgrade? how do I enable traces?
3. I would very much appreciate the thoughts from a ubuntu user with a
hw config using AMD CPU.
4. Is someone processing video in ubuntu? where can I find a guide in
re to video capture from camcorder by means of IEEE1394, and making
mpeg from the data I capture? I intend to make DVD's.
Regards
Sebastian
