Yes... according to the "general info" page on :

"Linux is an operating system that was initially created as a hobby by a
young student, Linus Torvalds, at the University of Helsinki in Finland.
Linus had an interest in Minix, a small UNIX system, and decided to
develop a system that exceeded the Minix standards. He began his work in
1991 when he released version 0.02 and worked steadily until 1994 when
version 1.0 of the Linux Kernel was released."

So, if we take 1994 as the proper starting date, then Linux is about 10
year old, not 30+ ... that's good news, this means that despite being
fairly new, it's quite great already, so I am quite confident that in 5
years or so, it will be really ready for the desktop and will "just
work" in every area. It's been just about one year since I started using
Linux full time, so I just have to wait 5 times this again, I shall
survive... :-)
