Ok, I'm confused. I have /usr/lib/openoffice which is where it's trying to
start from. I also have /usr/lib64/openoffice soffice.bin.real md5sums them
to be the same file, I've got a friend who also cannot run oo. :(

And:
# dpkg -S /usr/lib64/openoffice/program/soffice.bin.real
dpkg: /usr/lib64/openoffice/program/soffice.bin.real not found.

# dpkg -S /usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.bin.real
diversion by ia32-libs-gtk from: /usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.bin
diversion by ia32-libs-gtk to: /usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.bin.real
