I got my laptop back yesterday, so here are some more comments:
By adding earlyprink=vga to the boot parameters, I came across an error
like "IOAPIC[1]: Unable change apic_id!"
From this, I found a patch at
http://www.ussg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0502.1/1450.html which got
ACPI working for me.
ACPI seems sorta happy with the above patch; there ARE errors in the
DSDT, which should probably be replaced (the only errors in the AML are
for an unknown object Z00F, which I replaced with 0xffffffff with no
obvious bad effects).
Charging/discharging state is detected.
Battery level doesn't appear to be detected (with Ubuntu 2.6.10 + above
patch), but was detected with 2.6.12-rc1 + patch, so there's a fix
somewhere in the main tree.
CPU frequency scaling is unsupported (well - detected, but
unchangeable). Again, that worked for me with 2.6.12-rc1, so that can
probably be fixed too.
I would expect all the above to work with 2.6.11 (+ patch). 2.6.12-rc1
is supposed to support the audio (Intel HDA), but while I could control
the volume with that version, I couldn't actually hear anything. It's
possible that I missed something in my mixer setup though.
Gary.
