I have never succeeded in getting a checksum for a burned image of
Ubuntu. It works nicely for the downloaded image file, but not after
burning the image. Shouldn't this work?
I have tried every imaginable way to use the command, but I always get
this error message: /dev/hdc: failed in buffer_read(fd): mdfile:
Input/output error. The process of geting the checksum seems to start
normally, because the drive starts reading the CD and reads it for quite
a while.
The drive which I do the burn with is burning right. I checked this by
burning an image file to a CD (as a file) and then comparing the burned
file to the original - no differences. I don't have any other problems
with using my optical drive either - reading, burning - everything
always works.
Can anybody else get the checksum for a burned, ready to boot Ubuntu CD?
If they do, I'm dying to hear how they do it.
Regards,
Ari
