There is of course the not so short introduction to LaTeX, 145 pages,
google for lshort.pdf. At the university I read tons of papers written
latex, though they are usually no more than 30 pages. There are also a
lot of books and theses in my bookshelve that are typeset using LaTeX,
on average several hundreds of pages.
