i know that on winXP it uses pppoe (or some variant of it) to connect.
i know that the 2.6.x kernel has a driver for it. but that's only half
the work i guess. on my previous attempts with the other distros i got
so far as to have the kernel load the driver on boot but has never
been able to actually get a connection going. that is the only thing
that still forces me to boot into winXP.
