Problem with Hotplugging and ACPI (i guess)

maybe grub points to the wrong kernel?  I know that when I upgraded
from Warty to Hoary (with dist-upgrade, and with linux-686 installed),
I had both Hoary and Warty kernels in /boot, but my grub config file
was still pointing to
Warty's kernel and I had to switch it manually.
