installing firefox 1.0.1

Well, thanks for pointing out the importance of acting as root.
I erased the files the installer created in the first try, then started
up Nautilus as root, untarred, then ran the script, and voila!

I changed the name on the old firefox link and created a new link on the
the new version so it would be called up when clicking on the blue
sphere in the panel.
