kernel update, can't boot

Thanks for the tips. The cd drives open trick didn't work for me. :-[
Anyways, I was able to chroot onto the disk. Get networking actually started,
and start messing around with dpkg and apt-get. I reinstalled the linux-image
packages and hoped for the best. My system is still unbootable. If anyone has
any ideas I'm open to them, but at this point I'll just wait for the preview iso
and start afresh.

In case it helps, I'm still getting an error with pivot_root. It says no such
file or directory. After meddling with packages, I now see another message after
this, it cannot find /dev/console. In any event, the kernel panics right after
this and I'm finished.
