kernel update, can't boot

Tonight I updated my Hoary system to the new kernel that was supplied, a
2.6.10-4. Now my Ubuntu cannot boot. I get an error at early boot about
pivot_root failing. Something about no such file or directory.

Now I'm booted into windows to try sending a plea for help. Is there any way I
can get this working? If not I guess I'll grab a fresh "preview iso" once they
are ready.
