Totem Playing DVD, sluggish!

I was able to get Totem 1.0 to play DVD's(on 20050309.2) but it is
very sluggish. The sound is off a little bit and the video output is
often laced with lines. The a & v are not getting out of sync its just
sluggish while still kind of watchable.

Does anyone know of anything that can be done to get the playback to
perform better. I would like to be able to use Totem b/c of things
like it disables the screensaver while its playing a movie, etc...
