Ciao,
I had a similar problem with cd drives beeing detected as scsi drives even
they are attached to the ide port.
I also have an ICH5R mobo.
I had to downgrade the kernel to the 2.6.10-*-24 revision.
There is a patch in 2.6.10-*-25 that seems to be ICH5R unfriendly.
Matt Zimmerman told me it was introduced becouse some sata mobos did not find
cd drives at all before.
Are there ICH5R other users affected by this pacth?
