You mean, put the 2940 back into the machine to experiment ?
Hmmm, good idea !!!! :o)
I will buy a couple legacy SCSI drives on Ebay, to experiment with RAID
O. this way when I have enough money to buy modern/new discs, I will
feel confident putting Ubuntu and my data on it.
The 2940 I have is a 20MB/s spec, about the speed of a single drive of
that era. So putting 2 discs on the same card won't give any transfer
rate increase. BUT, I happen to have ANOTHER 2940 card at hand !
So I could put two SCSI drives, each on its own 2940, each using the
full bus bandwidth. This way I could reach 40MB/s, which is twice the
speed I get from my current old IDE drive ! Should be
interesting..... :o)
So, if anyone has a couple old SCSI drives lying around that they don't
use anymore..... they may have just found a new loving home ;o)
