Sadly, after that alteration:
Couldn't stat source package list ftp://ftp.filearena.net warty/main 
Packages /var/lib/apt/lists/
ftp.filearena.net_pub_ubuntu_dists_warty_main_binary-i386_Packages) - 
stat (2 No such file or directory)

ie - it still doesn't work <sob>
