Totem and XawTV interaction ??

XawTV works beautifully on Warty there is one thing that's as strange as
it is annoying :

Whenever I use Totem to play a video file, it somehow affects XawTV in
such a way that there a black screen, it doesn't display the images !
It all works fine, I can her the sound, swtich channels etc, but the
screen remains all black, nothing to look at ! :-/
And exiting totem and XawTv, then restarting XawTV, doesn't help, you
need to reboot ! Yes, even logging out is not enough !
Even if I play use Totem once in the morning, and start XawTV only 3
dayts later, it will still have the problem. IT's mechanical : use
totem, and instantly you lose the picture on telly !! :-/

I just did some experiments a minute ago though, and noticed something.
The problem only shows when using Totem-XINE. If I use Totem-Gstreamer,
despite trying my best to make it go wrong, the TV never lost the
picture, it was all working perfectly.
I did the following :

-Run XawTV and totem-xine : lose picture
-Open synaptic, and replace totem-xine with totem-gstreamer -> picture
is back instantly !
- Then remove totem-gstreamer and put totem-xine back... xawtv loses
picture again.

What's wrong with Totem-xine ??
Can anyone reproduce this problem ? Machine is Athlon XP 1700+ with
nForce one chipset and Pinnacle PC TV card.

Obviously, I would use totem-gstreamer, but it's pretty useless, only
Totem-xine works about right.
In Hoary, I noticed recently that totem-Gstreamer had improved a bit,
but it's still far from usefull. Plus, XawTV does work quite right in
Hoary anyway either :-/

I use XawTV, but I tried with Zapping, and it is affected in exactly the
same way, so it must be some low level stuff that Totem-xine and TV
viewers both use. Hoping for a guru to shed some light here... :-/
