I thought I had beaten the last two showstoppers last night, but I've
run into some really nasty problems on amd64 and powerpc; the cdebconf
frontend seems to be hanging on a futex (at least on amd64) while
starting up, which is a pretty good effort for an unthreaded program.
Debugging continues.
