Hmm ...
Try opening a root terminal - that will ask for your password of course, and 
then provide you with a terminal which has a root prompt eg "root at hoarykde:".
From there "visudo" works just fine.

However, any additional users would have to have sudo privileges specifically 
added (if that was what was wanted) SFAIK.
