Hotplug Problems

It seems that since yesterday, Ubuntu has decided to not like my USB
hard disk drive anymore, to the point where I cannot boot if it's
plugged in (I left it for 3 hours trying to boot stuck on hotplug
subsystem, and it took a few seconds when i rebnooted with it not
plugged in .

any ideas

(Please CC to my email address aswell so i can pick up the replies, as I
may not be able to spot your replies in the flood of emails I'll get
when I plug in my computer again after moving house.
