True, but these are not 'Basic' as installing, updating, removing
applications (or packages, software, whatever you want to call it).
Why give it a cryptic name?

There's also an item called "Media Player" in the Applications list,
which actually is Rhythmbox (Hah!). This makes it easier for new
users. Not for the sake of looking like windows, but because it
describes what it does.

The "GNU Image Manipulation Program" is also a quite straightforward
name, as is the "Mozilla Web Browser", but what the hell is a
"Synaptic Package Manager". As a first time user, I had no idea. Only
after looking on Google with "install software ubuntu" I found out how
I could do that... User Friendly? I'd say: No.
