Strange and Mysterious iBook Airport Problem, not 802.11g...

First off, are you using WEP or any other encryption. If you are, turn 
it off and see if you can get things to negotiate. Second, if you are 
attempting to use DHCP, dont until you have used a static address and 
are able to ping the airport base station. Third, try a normal ESSID, 
something like WLAN. If in the very basic ESSID == WLAN, no encryption, 
static ip case you still have problems, then I would start worrying 
about finding a conflicting irq or something that linux allocates.

Oh yeah, disable G mode on the airport extreme if you can.
