laptop - any suggestions for a friend of mine?

I did not have anyproblems with our Dell2650, except that when I put
an lcd projector it does not display properly at all. However, our HP
notebooks run Ubuntu and they absolutly have no problem running it at
all. I guess Dell is a little harder to use linux ith than HP's.
