ADSL-pppoe issues

Hey guys

In order to connect to the internet I use a router that uses pppoe and
DHCP. I run sudo pppoeconf and set it up. Works great.

However my ISP disconnects me once in a while (which seems normal that
after a long idle time they might disconnect me). So I should be able to
reconnect by typin sudo pon dsl-provider or just pon. I get the whole
thing about pppoe being loaded, but 99% of the time I'm not reconnected,
even though it says it loaded. Once in a blue moon it works.
Disconnecting throughs sudo poff -a always works.

The only way I can reconnect usually is by rebooting. Once in a while
that doesn't work either and then I have to shutdown and turn off the
router for a few seconds and that seems to do the trick.

Any ideas?

This is really irritating.

Thanks
