Well, the best way around this, in my experience, is to use the 
Microsoft Core Fonts.  If you've ever used an official version of 
Windows you have probably agreed to the Microsoft EULA, so you can use 
them.  However, Microsoft have pulled them from their web pages so the 
only source for Linux users that I know of is at:
