I had that on a different architecture (Dell Latitude D610 notebook)
and couldn't find a fix. When I manually upgraded to the latest
linux-image-2.6.12-1-686 kernel from breezy it went away. I
downloaded the .deb file from ubuntu packages and ran "dpgk -i
filename" to get it installed.

(I had to do this upgrade anyway since earlier kernels would run
extremely unstable on the machine, causing frequent random freezes.
The new kernel runs better: It's not as stable as Windows, but
usable.)
