First, try the Ubuntu live cd - that'll give you a very good idea of  
how well your hardware will be detected.
Then, tell us what your hardware is. Desktop / laptop, how old is it,  
etc.
And are you trying to triple boot (XP / FC / Ubuntu) or overwrite  
Fedora?
