Unfortunately this is really comparing apples and oranges due to the
way that Windows and Ubuntu handle the network configuration. Windows
does the network configuration after login; ubuntu does it before...
and checks the time as well. The windows way makes more sense: user
intervention is quite often necessary with network login, so it is
silly to do it before login. If you turn off S40networking in
/etc/rcS.d (backup before you do this) and also the S51ntpdate, you'll
see that Ubuntu is faster than Windows. I built a script then that
initiated the networks: much faster than windows.
