gcc pathing problem?

I'm not sure what happened here. Up until yesterday, I was able to 
compile .cpp files the usual way.  Then the same files that did compile would 
no longer compile  get repeated errors to the effect that there's no 
reference to std::cout. I suspect that there's a problem with a iostream.h 
being read, but I'm not sure why that link has been broken. And no, I didn't 
change the code. :-) 

I'm pretty much a C++ novice, so any help is much appreciated.
