Beagle is awfully slow

Beagle was running pretty consistently as my most
processor-intensive task, so I restarted it in the
foreground with --debug. It's not doing anything
particularly noteworthy, it seems -- just exploring my home
directory. But it's going awfully slowly, and it really
shouldn't be taking up *that* much of my processor.
Does anyone know Beagle internals well enough to tell me why
it's so processor-intensive? Presumably this is just while
it's in development, right? I assume they'll work on
performance once they've nailed down features and bugs.
