Reads like a permission problem to me: what does
ls -l /media/windows
show you?

You might try something like a
sudo su -
to login as root and see if you can access it as root.

If you can, you'll have to edit /etc/fstab to allow yourself to access
it. Try arjaybe's example line (comment out your existing line so you
can go back to it if necessary).
