Followup on /home partition query

Could be problems concerning configuration of different Gnome versions,
couldn't it? 

I got an idea: Could be somthing like this: ~/.gnome2/2.10/ubuntu/hoary
and maybe a function to set configuration for all gnome(2) versions.
Maybe a silly idea:-)
