thank for the info, yes i had done a fresh install of kubuntu, then whent to the Control center>system administration> sound system, and i set the system to use ALSA. yet when i test the sound, nothing. what do you meen by arts? also, i have noticed that a lot of people do complain on this forum about sound issues. -- sal
