It used to be through SCSI emulation in the old days.  But starting with
Kernel 2.6.0, CD-ROM/DVD are accessed as native IDE devices.  My DVD
Writer is "/dev/hda".  I don't have no idea about SATA as I haven't
worked with them before.

Bottom of the line, is your system working okay (you can use your
CD-ROM/DVD writer)?

If not, tell us, and we'll try to help.
