The problem seems to exist in all GStreamer client applications. I filed Ubuntu bug 13003. http://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=13003 Now if only I could figure out why Rhythmbox is randomly crashing without even getting as far as Bug Buddy...
