Persuading Ubuntu to use 1024x768 at 100Hz

Hello!
I just installed another Ubuntu on a computer with a 17" Samsung 795
monitor and gfx card TNT2 32 MB.
The matter is that I can only get 1024x768 at 85Hz while the monitor is
capable of 100Hz. I tried sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg (I have
given an "experimental" horizsync/verticalrefresh as I don't know
these) and even after experimenting with the hs/vr values I could
reach only 87Hz (didn't tested if it works).
Is there a way to force 100Hz?
BTW I used this monitor at 100 Hz previously with another distro AND
another gfx card (i810). Maybe the problem originates from the TNT2
card...
