I believe I am in ALSA hell. I have been reading the forums all day and
still cannot get my card to work. I have followed too many peoples
instructions to be sane.
I tried alsa-sources
I tried alsa-driver-1.0.9b
my lspci is:
0000:00:1b.0 0403: Intel Corp. 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) High
Definition Audio Controller (rev 03)
my 'lsmod |grep snd' is:
snd_azx 14944 0
snd_hda_codec 41216 1 snd_azx
snd_pcm_oss 47648 0
snd_mixer_oss 16768 1 snd_pcm_oss
snd_pcm 82184 3 snd_azx,snd_hda_codec,snd_pcm_oss
snd_timer 23300 1 snd_pcm
snd 51300 6
snd_azx,snd_hda_codec,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_timer
soundcore 9824 1 snd
snd_page_alloc 9604 2 snd_azx,snd_pcm
My laptop is a Sony VAIO VGN-S460
When I try to interact with ALSA like use my volume control I get the
message:
No volume control elements and/or devices found.
Could someone help me sort this out? Thanks
