I have the same problem.

I went into various things - changed 'stuff' and then it started
working. So, I changed EVERYTHING back - and it still works......yey -
but argh.

then it stopped working.

So I put the settings back to the changed values - and it started
working - later.

Anyway - this goes on and on. My latest theory is that you have to have
your proxy setup - under gnome config. To do this, click Applications -
System Tools - Configuration Editor. Go down to system and then
http_proxy. Enter all the appropriate stuff and quit. Now the weird
part...there seems to be a delay before it will start working! try and
update about 5mins later. That (amazingly) worked for me.
Interestingly, if you delete the settings (ie no proxy) then it takes a
few minutes for it to stop working! Perhaps one should restart
something.

All in all I do not understand why the above worked - it does not make
sense on many levels........but its working now....with radar and
forecast.
