In Synaptic the chkrootkit package includes the Ubuntu logo, so that
means it's in "main", doesn't it?
Of course if you are being very paranoid (and worried that your
machine had been compromised) you would also want to check to make
sure you are still connecting to the official repositories and not
fraudulent ones. I believe the Update Manager can check digital
signatures, but I am not sure that Synaptic can. I also don't know
what warnings might appear if something were not right.
